About this deal

Pour the margarita into the prepared glasses, garnish with lime wedges and fresh mint sprigs, and serve immediately. It has been shown to be anti-carcinogenic, lower cholesterol, improve skin and eye health, normalize insulin levels, improve digestion and boost the immune system. Whether you choose to eat it or drink it, mango is a superfood! Agave syrup: if you don’t have agave syrup, honey, maple syrup, or simple syrup work as good substitutes. Salt the rim of your glasses by running a lime wedge around the edge and dipping it in a mixture of chili powder and sea salt. This is optional, but it enhances the sweetness of the mango and adds a mild, spicy contrast.

This recipe is incredibly versatile, making it perfect for any time of the year. Here are some ways to customize it: YaVe founder Joe Cruz Jr. sees flavored tequila as the logical next step in the category’s growing popularity in recent years: “The U.S. market was already very familiar with vodkas, rums and whiskies so flavored versions were a natural progression,” says Cruz, who’s also based in New York. While this specific Mango Sunrise drink isn’t one that your corner pub might offer due to slightly obscure ingredients, it is a wonderfully refreshing beverage to sip at home, offer at your next BBQ or serve for brunch! In just about any liquor store you can find vodkas, rums and whiskeys flavored with everything from citrus and cucumber to cotton candy and maple syrup-smothered pancakes. But in recent years another spirit category has crept in amongst the usual flavored suspects: tequila. Flavored tequila could not legally be labeled as tequila—instead, it was a “tequila product”—until the Tequila Regulatory Council of Mexico updated its regulations in 2004.

The high alcohol content is going to intensify the flavor[ing], so what most brands do—and you see this with flavored rums or flavored vodkas—the cheap ones are always 60 proof, 50 proof and they add a lot of sugar to it,” says Grosscup. “They’re trying to hide the flavor with a bunch of added sugar. You can’t do that in tequila. A few of the other spicy [flavored tequilas on the market] cut it with pineapple or mango or something else, but we get around that by just using real peppers.” This mango margarita needs just a little sweetener to be perfectly balanced (contrary to our Classic Margarita, which has no added sugar). Here are a few of our favorite options and why we’d like to use them: To make the batanga, add 30ml blanco tequila (100% agave), 30ml fino sherry, 10ml salted raspberry syrup and bitters (if using) to a highball glass and stir to mix. Add cubed ice, stir, then add more ice until it reaches the top of the glass. Add chilled Coca-Cola and garnish with a big wedge of lime. MangaritaWe set out to create something different than anything else on the market today that would appeal to a new and evolving drinker and Mango Shotta delivers – its unexpected flavour profile, lower 26% ABV and arresting orange colour create the perfect recipe for Mango Shotta to become the shot of summer.” Tanteo’s lineup included chocolate, tropical fruit and jalapeño flavored tequilas when it launched in 2009, but Grosscup dropped the chocolate and tropical fruit flavors when he took over as CEO. Instead, he’s honed in on the spicy flavors, launching habanero and chipotle tequilas. The result is a 100 percent agave, 80-proof tequila (a rare combination within the flavored tequila category). It has a light aroma and punch of (reasonably) spicy flavor that’s ideal for mixing into a Margarita. Alternatively, you can mix with tonic or into other drinks needing a little tang. Fans of spice will also find that this could even be sipped neat or over ice. Playa Real Pineapple Infused Tequila Triple sec: this orange-flavored liqueur adds a nice touch. My favorite is Cointreau, but Grand Marnier is a good substitute. You can replace it with fresh orange juice for a less alcoholic version. Next you divide it into four glasses and pour over ice, and top with your mango juice. Add a cherry and an umbrella for some finishing touches, and enjoy!

Use different fruits: don’t limit yourself to just mangoes! You can use any fruit you have on hand or that’s in season. Peaches, melon, watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries are all great options. Just make sure to add them frozen so the drink maintains its slushy consistency. Make it skinny by using fresh orange juice and a small amount of agave nectar instead of triple sec. The advantage to using frozen mango in a mango margarita is: it shortcuts chopping the mango! It takes a little time to cut a mango, so it’s more convenient to grab a bag of frozen diced chunks. It also makes a nice creamy, frosty texture. Got a fresh mango on hand and want to use it? No problem! You can substitute it for the frozen mango here. It has the same result, it’s just not as frothy and ice cold.Mangoes: use frozen mango chunks to avoid diluting the drink with ice. If unavailable, cube fresh mangoes and freeze them beforehand.

Inspired by the traditional Mexican dish magonada, the new product combines ‘high-quality’ Tequila with the ‘sweet, fruity flavour of mango and the bold, spicy bite of jalapeño’. Made at the Juanacatlán distillery cooperative just outside of Guadalajara, which also produces a handful of other unflavored and locally distributed tequilas, the success of Tanteo’s flavored tequilas has bolstered the 85 member cooperative as a whole and has also led the brand toward an unusual progression, with the launch of its first traditional tequila, a blanco, in January 2020.Tanteo, however, isn’t the only company that’s honed in on the American drinker’s desire for hot pepper tequila. YaVe Tequila launched in 2017 with two flavored tequilas— jalapeño and mango. Agave Loco and Playa Real also launched in 2008 and 2018, respectively, with flavored tequilas that slightly tone down the heat with a secondary flavor. Even giants like Patron and Sauza Tequila have flavors in their lineups. Gateway Drink Taste and adjust the ingredients to your liking for sweetness or strength. If you like a stronger drink, add more tequila. For a sweeter margarita, add more agave or simple syrup. As the queen of rationalization I have deduced that alcoholic beverages that include fruit juice are not all that bad for you. Mango, in particular, has a lot of health benefits. Since then, the availability of and demand for flavored tequilas has grown. Naturally, this has encouraged more companies to get in on the action, particularly for the U.S. market. (Tequila drinkers in the spirit’s home country are typically more traditionalist about their agave spirits.) Inspiration for Flavors For a spicy twist, infuse tequila with jalapeño slices or add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the blender.
