World War I flying ace Windisch was reportedly captured as a prisoner of war in a French prison. Reports differed on his status, with some rumors claiming that he died in captivity. He was never seen again and his true fate is unknown. I have read and enjoyed many of Claire Douglas’s thrillers, but this is my least favorite so far. I had a difficult time connecting with this book because I found Olivia exhausting and really tired of her “Woe is me” attitude. Jenna Halliday is a more intriguing protagonist, but the reader only gets a small glimpse into her life. Douglas manages to shed doubt on many characters’ alibis and introduces convincing red herrings, but the plot is very over the top and the reveal was a let down.

I was so excited to read this after devouring The Couple at Number 9. I love the author’s writing but this one was just ok for me. The mystery was great and kept me wanting more but the end fell flat and I did not like the twist.Another witness was a cab driver where he stated that a woman matching Amy's description approached him and said she urgently needed a phone. This sighting was never confirmed by authorities. [10] West Yorkshire Police found Shannon alive at 12:30 on 14 March 2008, 24 days after she went missing. She was concealed in the base of a divan bed in a flat in Lidgate Gardens, Batley Carr. Michael Donovan, the 39-year-old tenant of the flat, was arrested at the scene. [3]

This book will appeal to fans of Ms. Douglas, fans of suspense, and fans of characters with secrets. years later a BBC podcaster named Jenna Halliday starts investigating the incident by visiting Devil’s corridor: the creepy, ominous place where the girls have gotten missing! When push comes to shove, I honestly think this was my favorite (at least so far) by the author. Between the much loved podcaster angle, the eerie setting, and the intriguing premise, I found myself happily wrapped up multiple times within the riveting story. Point blank, if I hadn’t already been, I would now thoroughly be in love with this author. So, if you couldn’t already guess, I strongly recommend this book. So I just know you’re going to run out and grab it ASAP. Right? Rating of 4.5 stars. And it was an ok mystery. It did make me go through the clues, and wonder, and try figure out what was going on.
