About this deal

Great characterization, an excellent amount of taut suspense... If you're a whodunit fan, in fact, you might find The Silent Sister to be perfect.”— North Dallas Gazette Lizzy is a likable character, despite a few rash conclusions that she makes about who may be targeting her and a few other poor decisions. Now to complicate things further Lizzie and her sister have been estrange from one another for many years... but could your sister the girl you played dolls with as a kid do this to you? The relationship between Lizzie and Emma was an interesting one and I liked how it was revealed to us throughout this book.... The stalker’s actions in this book escalated throughout the book and got scarier and Boulder as time went on... as much as I liked Lizzie and really felt for her she really didn’t always think things through.... she really did some pretty stupid things...things I would hope I would never do if someone were hunting me! But fortunately I have never been in this situation...

We didn't get to know any of the characters in any real depth. It was all quite superficial. Lizzie irritated me no end. Spineless and mercurial are two words that come to mind. Selfish and immature are two more. No, I didn't like Lizzie. Or Joe. But that doesn't impact on my enjoyment of the book. I have detested the characters in some of the books I have liked the most. As the notes become more and more menacing, everyone becomes a suspect...her boyfriend, her best friend, her neighbors, her boss, and her estranged sister, Emma. Lizzy lives in a cottage with her boyfriend and one day she finds a letter in her home that she's unsure of where it came from. No one else should have access to their place and before long Lizzy finds more disturbing notes. I was peacefully happy enough being 'read to'.....while soaking in the pool, walking, cooking, or resting in the sauna. Every time I listened to this audiobook-- it felt like I had a little friend with me 'chatting-away'. ...., telling me a story! Duh! lol I WAS being told a story. Everything was breezy engaging-- nice brain teaser relaxer....( both). Let's face it.... it's a different type of listening to then "Truman" or "The "Destiny of the Republic". I still have a LONG way to go with Truman -- but one more long walk - and I'm almost done with "Destiny of the Republic"... One part was soooo exciting - I scream to the trees and cheered! - Lizzie is the manager of an upmarket boutique, living with her boyfriend Joe (who shows worryingly controlling tendencies) and her cat Frank. When Lizzie finds herself on the receiving end of some unwelcome attention, her paranoia increases as she questions all those around her.The first thing I had to do was stop at this post office, ten miles outside of New Bern. I’d get that out of the way and cross one thing off my list. Digging the flimsy white postcard from my purse, I went inside the building. I was the only customer, and my tennis shoes squeaked on the floor as I walked up to the counter where a clerk waited for me. With her dark skin and perfect cornrows, she reminded me of my friend Sherise, so I liked her instantly. This is a novel that will encourage you to keep reading to learn more and discover the truth and in my case I kept thinking I will read one more chapter before I put the book down and another. This book was one that I had not heard of. A friend gave it to me. She thought it would be my kind of book and it was. This novel was a real pleasant surprise for me. I usually read thrillers, but I entered the Giveaway contest for this book as the plot looked interesting. It wasn't long before I was pulled into the story and was totally engrossed thereafter. I read the book in 4 days which is really fast for me. I will not re-summarize the plot, only to say that the author does an excellent job in depicting the potentially devastating consequences when family members are not honest with each other.

When I returned to my neighborhood, I stopped at the houses on either side of mine to ask if anyone knew a Fred Marcus. Both houses had changed owners since I'd lived in New Bern and I barely knew these new neighbors, but they seemed very nice, offering condolences and kind words about my father. A woman in one of the houses was now the head of the Neighborhood Watch program and she claimed to know everyone on the street. "There's no Fred Marcus around here," she told me. "If there were, trust me, I would know." Growing up in a household where something is terribly wrong, you feel the weight of that mysterious something even though it's unspoken. It eats at you. Confuses you. It leaves you wondering if your view of the world will ever make sense.” The Silent Sister is a gripping novel from Diane Chamberlain, the bestselling author of The Midwife's Confession.I turned onto Craven Street and pulled into our driveway. Daddy's car was in the garage. I could see its roof through the glass windows—one of them broken--of the garage door. I hadn't thought about his car. Was it better to sell it or donate it? I had an appointment with his attorney in the morning and I'd add that question to my ever-growing list. The car should really go to my brother Danny to replace his ancient junker, but I had the feeling he'd turn it down. This is one of those stories that apart from Lizzy, I didn't trust anyone. I was desperately trying to work out who could be behind the letters and I was so certain I had it sussed, only to realise I'd been wrong all along.
