About this deal

But now if there’s something I really don’t want to do, I’m going to say no. I’ve learned to be more in control. I’ve not had control for so long, I feel like Britney!’ Another tweeted: "LOVING @Rylan on #ThisMorning - I’m sold, *adds book to Christmas list* p.s, definitely not an xfactor reject. To me, you’ve always come across as a kind soul with a great sense of humour."

The Receipts is no stranger to awards, having been nominated for best sex and relationship podcast at the British Podcast Awards in 2019, and scooped best podcast at the UK’s Urban Music Awards in 2020. Hosts Audrey Indome, Tolani Shoneye and Milena Sanchez (pictured above) speak about any and everything, as they champion fellow women of colour and offer their trademark, unfiltered advice. Focusing on pop culture, sex and relationships, its outrageous dilemmas range from “I kissed my boyfriend’s dad” to “I’ve been hiding my plastic surgery”. Named best politics/opinion podcast at the Ambies (one of US podcasting’s top awards), Crooked Media’s Strict Scrutiny gives listeners the lowdown on the Supreme Court, from its cases to the culture of the now 234-year-old establishment. Created by law professors Leah Litman, Kate Shaw and Melissa Murray, it aims to demystify the judiciary, via trending legal cases and their implications for America. From Roe v Wade, to immigration rulings and civil rights, this podcast will open up your mind to the major issues affecting everyday life in America. My body did completely shut down. I wouldn't eat. I went through a stage where I couldn't even talk, which for some people might be quite handy," he told Fearne Cotton on the Happy Place Podcast. "My speech was just slurred. My mum thought I was having a stroke. My body just went. I went down to 9st and I am six-foot-four." In another interview with Elizabeth Day, Rylan described the ordeal as "extremely traumatic."

But in his new book Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, he revealed their marriage split might not have been just down to the admission. He wrote: "And next time, I’d get a prenup. Silly pr***." One thing I really want to mention is the way it is written. It says all over the book that Rylan wrote it himself. Aside from the actual contents of the book I think this is one of my favourite things about it. Like I've said I've read so many of these autobiographies over the years of so many different types of people and the difference when I read ones clearly written by the person is so remarkable and so much more enjoyable. I feel like you can actually hear them saying the words, you know what I mean? It really blows my mind why everyone doesn't do this. I mean I get it, maybe they will not all be written like Shakespeare but isn't that the point? Isn’t that what makes these books so much more relatable and authentic, if they are written in a way that the person would talk to you in real life, in the way that they would convey a subject to you? Isn't that the point that you want to hear about their life, from them, in their own actual words? I just want to give a massive shout out to Rylan for doing that and making his book honestly such a genuinely lovely read. Since his explosion onto the entertainment scene in 2012's X Factor, Rylan Clark has rapidly established himself as a competent host, entertainer and TV personality.

With unforgettable stories about his rise to fame, his biggest regrets and his special bond with his beloved mum, TEN: The decade that changed my future is as warm and honest, enormously entertaining and full of surprises as its brilliant Sunday Times bestselling author. No but seriously, I enjoyed this book so much and felt like I came away with such a good understanding of who Rylan is, which to me is the whole point in reading a book from someone, right? It's a chance to sort of get inside their head and see how they see the world and what they think about their life rather than reading it through the eyes of journalists or magazines trying to guess what is going on. Rylan Clark has hinted at the devastating reason his ex husband decided to leave him. He explained that he had made a mistake when they got married. This week, Nyima Jobe chooses five of the best award-winning podcasts, from a trio of millennial relationship experts to a superlative show about the sport’s most inspiring heroes This is Rylan as you've never seen him before - an intimate, fascinating and joyful insight into an extraordinary ten years on the telly and in our hearts. The Strictly It Takes Two host said on the Happy Place podcast: "My body did completely shut down. I wouldn't eat. I went through a stage where I couldn't even talk, which for some people might be quite handy. My speech was just slurred. My mum thought I was having a stroke. My body just went. I went down to 9st and I am six-foot-four."

The comical moment comes not long after Rylan opened up about his despair following his split from his husband of six years, Dan Neal. The relationship breakdown had a devastating effect on the Celebrity Big Brother star's mental and physical health, forcing him to take four months off work during which time he admitted himself to hospital for treatment.

Photograph: Suki dhanda/The Observer The chances of Rylan reading this review is very slim, but if he ever does - Rylan, I bloody love ya! You truly deserve every success and this book was such a joy to read! I'm so sad I've finished it, but I'm confident you'll have a second instalment in a few years as your career is only going to go from strength to strength! Well hark at you, stumbling upon my autobiography. Bet you wouldn't have put money on that three years ago, eh?! Please don't stress yourself out too much, though, it's actually socially acceptable nowadays that you're interested. He also told how he had become so ill he had suffered heart failure twice. He had to be given an injection to restart his heart.

The TV star has now put pen to paper in a new book, Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, which chronicles his life from finding fame on The X Factor in 2012 up until now. And for the first time he details the reasons for the end of his marriage, admitting he had cheated "years ago" but only told Dan last year. As his marriage came to an abrupt end, Rylan pulled out of work events. He said: "Two days before I was due to do Eurovision, everyone knew when I wasn't at Eurovision something was wrong." Rylan said he then went into "self blame" mode and felt his life was over and spent time hiding at his mum's house. He writes: "And for the first time in thirty two years I felt I couldn't carry on no more. What's the point I thought. I'd lost what I thought was everything, the one thing I always wanted. A man I loved. A family of my own. And now it was gone. And so I tried to end it." Well, unfortunately/fortunately, I found my answers. I won’t go into any more detail about what happened. I can’t bear to, but we both know the truth.Speaking to The Guardian, he said: ‘I was having thoughts and doing things that made me… f**ked up, for want of a better word. Whatever your opinion on Rylan, you can't deny the boy has done good! From his beginnings, he has always been destined for fame and after cruelly having a place in the Big Brother house in 2007 snatched away from him at the last minute, he still managed to go on and achieve his dream and more! After finishing fifth on the X Factor, Rylan went on to win Celebrity Big Brother in 2013, which led on to regular contributions on ITV1′s This Morning, including a hosting stint with his husband Dan; together they were the first homosexual couple to present the show. Rylan and Dan Neal split last year. The Strictly It Takes Two star admitted he had told Dan that he had cheated on him years earlier.
