First launched in California in mid-2004, Stolichnaya Elit is made from Russian Alpha Spirit distilled from winter wheat and filtered through quartz sand, Siberian birch charcoal and cloth filters. If that feels as if there's a lot of care that goes into making this terrific vodka then you'd be right. Slowly fermented top quality grain is distilled 3 times creating a spirit so pure that no traces of methanol can be found. The experienced distillers select only a narrow cut of triple-distilled spirit to be freeze filtered at 18? But did you know that Stolichnaya is translated to mean capital city whilst some suggest that it might actually simply mean'Table Vodka'.The resulting liquid is purified using exceptionally fine qurtz sand and passed through Russian birch wood charcoal. Staying true to Stoli’s roots, Elit’s patented ‘freeze filtration’ technique is a modern update of the classic method of leaving casks of vodka out in sub-zero temperatures.
