About this deal

However, the plot is now circling back and recycling the President thing and a few other other themes I wont reveal. I felt I was able to get the measure of the characters and their relationships fairly quickly and keep up with the narrative throughout. The atmosphere of the novel, set mostly on this wild Greek island, echoes strongly the classical tragedies of Greece. After solving a cold case killing at the Lobbyists mansion, he decides that the Lobbyist does not deserve to die but that all of his security details do, so he spends the rest of the book killing them one by one in increasingly gruesome ways. But who knows if, like Michael Myers, the unstoppable Evan Smoak will delight fervent fans by coming back?

Saying that, I will be going back to the start of the series as, after seeing all of the love for the Orphan X Series I feel I need to know what came before, experience Evan Smoak from his *sort of* inception (I say *sort of* because I don’t think we go as far back as Evan’s arrival in the Orphan programme in book one). The biggest of the foursome, red-faced and sloppy, smacked the husband on the shoulder, sending him tumbling toward the door. He is captured by one of the only two honorable characters in the book, the true-blue FBI Agent Naomi Templeton who willingly tosses out her convictions and loyalty to the law to help him kill the lobbyist. We learn about Kate’s possibly stalling career and Leo’s plan to apply to acting schools against his mother’s wishes. Eventually, the two storylines begin to merge, which puts Evan in a position that he wasn’t trained to do, something that he has only learned recently to do, and it troubles him.

I'm telling you if you enjoy thrillers/action thrillers with superb and complex characters and haven't tried Gregg Hurwitz's Orphan X series, YOU. I loved the fact that Joey, Dog, and Orphan V were featured and have hope that a romance will brew between Orphan X and Orphan V (sorry to all the Evan and Mia fans out there! I have been addicted to the adventures of Evan Smoak since the first book came out and sadly now I have to wait a whole year for the next book. The Last Orphan is the eighth book in the Orphan X Series and was published by Penguin Michael Joseph in hardcover, audio and digital formats yesterday (that’s Thursday 16th February 2023) with the paperback to follow. For the most part, the pace is hectic as Evan strides through one dangerous situation after another.

However, there is a secondary storyline that comes up in the second half of the story that allows Evan to step back into his Nowhere Man role: Evan helping someone who needs his brand of help. Maybe because of his age, his knowledge of technology isn’t the greatest, so he relies on his 16-year-old ally Joey, who we met in book three. With a publication date of February 14, 2023, the Last Orphan is the eighth novel in Hurwitz’ Orphan X series. S. Geological Survey, leading to “immediate suspension of the National Volcano Early Warning System,” and there’s always someone around looking to monetize the natural disaster and the sasquatch-y onslaught that follows. The book summary pretty much lays out the first part of the story, that picks up shortly after the last one.Add to that the frequent reminders that he lives in a high tech apartment with 'poured concrete' worktops, 'living wall' etc, etc.
