The day before the cultural festival, Hirano says he would like to marry someone as honest as Kagiura, and Kagiura's "I think" comes crashing down. Given how easily Hirano has accepting being close to Kagiura in all kinds of ways as long as it wasn’t thought of in a romantic way, I don’t think Hirano would mind. This chapter was interesting to tl bc Kagi’s self-perception about his standing in the club is very different from reality and he often thinks things that completely contradict what the narrative told us. I've been a big fan of Sasaki and Miyano since pretty much the early chapters so when the Hirano and Kagiura manga was launched I was there.

Kagiura walks in on Hirano trying out his Oiwa costume for the cultural festival, and though an embarrassed Hirano tries to make him promise not to come to the haunted house, Kagiura does not accept as he still wants to go. Yet, overall, I feel the main pair (that’s not yet a pair) makes for a sometimes-uncomfortable read, as if the mangaka is insisting ‘it’s fine for Kagiura to wear down his room-mate’s resistance because possibly Hirano wants a relationship even though he says he doesn’t feel that way’. And with that said, I need to say that this is so relatable, the relationship of dependancy that is constructed between them is something that almost every person has felt. as a character (to my memory he only has one cameo), we hear about him through the other characters.It all started when Kagiura moved into the school dorms with what seemed to be a bad boy upperclassman. K. Rowling keep writing Harry Potter related books even if they are completely useless to the major story of the first 8 books. Because I kinda refuse to believe that the person was right about them not getting together and I would really be hurt by that if it's true. This is a delightful first volume that’s bound to please the fans of her main series but also makes a good starting point for new readers; it certainly pleased me!

The short is in no way enough to properly introduce the characters and add the depth needed for them to stand out, however it does show us a snippet of their dynamic and how they interact while at the same time it brings forth a new dimension to both Hirano, who up until now existed to be Sasaki's close friend and to help him get with Miyano, and Kagiura, who we only knew as a name. If you’re a fan of Miyano and Sasaki, there are a few brief glimpses of the two (and a couple of good Sasaki reaction faces) as well as several encounters with Hanzawa and his inscrutable smile, who’s as unpredictable as ever.Ever wondered why the heck Hirano didn’t get that Kagiura’s second confession was meant to be romantic? The incident with Kuresawa behind the school occurs, and Kagiura manages to soothe Hirano, who was upset at the whole ordeal. Due soon (in February 2023) is Hirano and Kagiura the novel (which originally came out a year before the manga in 2018), also licensed by Yen Press for their Yen On list, and there are three more volumes out in Japan of this ongoing manga series (the afterword refers to a hiatus but that was in 2019). Kagiura used to be anxious about his future dormitory life, but thanks to his energetic senior looking out for him, he has come to feel content and at ease. Kagiura knows that Sasaki is Hirano's classmate, and Sasaki also knows that Kagiura is Hirano's roommate.
