But I read up to chapter 383 and it's kind of got me thinking different about the series (alongside the changes he made in volume 36). The first, Musical Hunter × Hunter ( ミュージカル ハンター×ハンター), was originally performed during December 2000. We are introduced to the 4 protagonists in this volume, although we only meet the real second protagonist to Gon at the end of the volume. Gon quickly befriends two other Hunter wannabes: Kurapika, who's motivated by vengeance, and money-hungry Leorio.

There is a bit of violence and there are a few sort of scary/gory moments once they get to the exams, but that's it so far for this series. Leorio finds Kurapika's quest for revenge coinciding with his dream of becoming a Hunter unnecessary. Gon is the young Son Goku-looking protagonist of the book, and he has some extraordinary instincts that make it clear that he’s going to become a hunter in the future. Reddit and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to provide you with a better experience. In the manga and the 1999 version, Gon's meeting with Kite in the very beginning made much more sense for later events, unlike on the 2011's which made it feel out of place.Even if they're fan favorites, it is understandable why Kurapika is so enraged (how deep is that rage? He stated that while it has every idea about shōnen manga in force, what sticks out the most is the violence.

First on the ship he meets with Kurapika and Leorio and he impresses the captain of the ship and he realizes gon is special after asking about his father. A series of three film books based on the first anime series and authored by Nobuaki Kishikan has been released by Shueisha from December 3, 1999, to August 24, 2001. A second anime television series by Madhouse aired on Nippon Television from October 2011 to September 2014, totaling 148 episodes, with two animated theatrical films released in 2013. After many trials together, Gon and his friends end up passing the exam except for Killua, who fails after killing another applicant due to the influence of his brother, Illumi, and runs away to his family's estate in shame. The manga has also been licensed and translated into multiple languages throughout Europe and other parts of Asia.In a different review for Anime News Network in 2012, Thompson wrote that it was hard to summarize the story because "it is every shōnen manga in one, with training sequences, tournament battles, a crime-mystery story arc, and a virtual-reality, RPG-style story arc".

The color palette can shift from vibrant and inviting to grim and menacing at the drop of a hat, the character designs are unique and appealing, the CG is very minimal, and the action sequences are some of the best that the shōnen genre has ever produced, on-par with the best works of Studio Bones. Chrollo; the introduction of characters like Gyro who may serve great purpose in Gon's story, currently delayed; volume 36's cryptic message from Togashi "Spoiling. To accompany Beyond and ensure his compliance, the Zodiacs decide to watch over him and invite Kurapika and Leorio to join them, replacing Ging and former Vice-Chairman Pariston Hill, who assembled their own Dark Continent exploration teams by Beyond's request. Instead of continuing the story from the OVA series, it restarted the story from the beginning of the manga in an attempt to adapt it more accurately. It's revealed later in the chapter, but Togashi utilizes this technique to make sure that the reader shifts their attention to Kurapika's expression following his analysis of the tattoos. Good volume and introduces us to this world meanwhile keeping a good focus on other characters and introducing good antagonists like Hisoka and deceptive people like Tonpa. Kurapika remains impressed with Leorio and wants to know what drives him, so he reveals more about himself.
